ABOUT THIS COURSE

The ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Aesthetic Treatments and Skin Science is designed to provide learners with the advanced knowledge, practical skills, and professional understanding required to safely and effectively perform a range of non-surgical aesthetic treatments. The qualification combines underpinning skin science with practical aesthetic procedures, preparing learners to work confidently within clinical, salon, or aesthetic practice environments.

Learners will develop a strong understanding of health, safety, infection prevention, and professional standards within aesthetic practice. The qualification covers essential areas including consultation, skin assessment, treatment planning, client care, ethics, and legal responsibilities to support safe and compliant working practices.

The course explores advanced skin science, including skin structure and function, intrinsic and extrinsic ageing, skin types and conditions, contraindications, skin classification systems, and the physiological responses of the skin to aesthetic procedures. Learners will also gain an understanding of investigative consultation techniques to support personalised and evidence-based treatment planning.

Practical treatment units allow learners to develop competence in a range of advanced aesthetic procedures, depending on the optional pathways selected. These may include microneedling, chemical peels, dermaplaning and the removal of skin blemishes using non-surgical cosmetic procedures. Learners will develop practical treatment skills alongside client consultation, treatment evaluation, aftercare, and reflective practice.

Throughout the qualification, learners are encouraged to develop professional behaviours, communication skills, and reflective practice to support ongoing professional development within the aesthetics industry. On completion, learners will be equipped with the knowledge and practical competence required to progress within advanced aesthetic practice and further specialist training.

The course is a blend of home study theory and practical’s, with all hands-on training taking place at our Hale Barns Academy in Cheshire.

- Principles and Practice of Microneedling Treatments

- Principles and Practice of Chemical Peel Treatments

- Principles and Practice of Dermaplaning Treatments

COURSE OBJECTIVES

ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Aesthetic Treatments and Skin Science will enable learners to progress to:

ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice
Employment in an associated profession.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for this qualification must meet all the following entry criteria:

• Be aged 18 or older, on the day that they are registered with ProQual.

and

One of the following:

- Hold the ProQual Level 3 Certificate in Pathway to Aesthetic Practices, or an equivalent qualification.

- Have at least 5 years of verifiable experience working within the beauty sector. (Verifiable experience requirements include proof of 5 years’ insurance history and evidence of relevant CPD certificates.)

In addition, all learners must prove they hold a relevant English language qualification if English is not their first language.

To secure your place on a qualification, a minimum deposit of 50% of the total course fee is required at the time of enrolment. The remaining balance can then be paid in interest-free instalments over the duration of the qualification period.

The repayment term will depend on the qualification enrolled onto and the completion timeframe stated on the website. This may vary between 6–9 months or up to 12 months, depending on the qualification selected.

All outstanding course fees must be paid in full before attending any practical training days, practical assessments, or hands-on sessions associated with the qualification.

By enrolling onto a payment plan, learners agree to maintain payments in line with the agreed instalment schedule until the balance is paid in full.
