ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice

The ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice is designed to provide learners with the advanced theoretical knowledge, clinical understanding, and practical competence required to safely and effectively perform advanced non-surgical aesthetic procedures within clinical, salon, and aesthetic practice environments.

AWARDING BODY:

PROQUAL is recognised and regulated by Ofqual (Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulator).
The Ofqual reference number is RN5355. Ofqual regulates qualifications, examinations, and assessments in England

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Candidates for this qualification must meet all the following entry criteria: 

​

• Hold an Ofqual regulated Level 4 Certificate or Diploma in Aesthetic Practice, or an equivalent qualification. This could include qualifications such as the following: 

  • ProQual Level 4 Certificate in Dermaplaning. 

  • ProQual Level 4 Certificate in Cryolipolysis. 

  • ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Aesthetic Treatments and Skin Science. 

  • ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Laser, IPL and Electrical Treatments. 

  • ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Non-Surgical Body Contouring. 

  • ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management (the candidate must already hold a Level 3 regulated qualification in Beauty Therapy or an equivalent). 

OR 

• Have at least 5 years of verifiable experience working within the beauty industry, providing the treatments covered by the ProQual Level 4 Diploma in Aesthetic Treatments and Skin Science. 

The candidate will need to produce evidence that they are occupationally competent. Evidence includes: 

  • Valid certificates. 

  • CV. 

  • Manager statement. 

  • Insurance documentation evidencing cover to perform the required treatment.

Prior to enrolment, a trade test will be carried out to ensure that the learner is competent and able to perform the treatments. 

AND 

• Hold a currently valid first aid qualification, which can be any of the following: 

  • Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work. 

  • Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid. 

  • Level 3 Award in Adult Basic Life Support, AED and Management of Anaphylaxis.

In addition, all learners must prove they hold a relevant English language qualification if English is not their first language.

CERTIFICATION

This course is fully accredited and certified by Proqual. A certificate will be issued upon completion of the course, enabling you to gain insurance.

QUALIFICATION

ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice is made up of 53 credits which equates to 535 hours of TQT.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

The ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice is designed to provide learners with the advanced theoretical knowledge, clinical understanding, and practical competence required to safely and effectively perform advanced non-surgical aesthetic procedures within clinical, salon, and aesthetic practice environments. This nationally recognised qualification supports progression within advanced aesthetic practice and prepares learners for higher-level clinical and specialist aesthetic treatments.

Learners will develop an in-depth understanding of advanced professional practice within the aesthetics industry, including infection prevention and control, safeguarding responsibilities, informed consent, equality and diversity, client safety, communication with healthcare professionals, professional boundaries, indemnity requirements, and ethical practice. The qualification also explores the role of organisations such as the JCCP and CPSA, alongside the importance of evidence-based practice, reflective learning, and continuing professional development to support safe and compliant working practices.

The course includes detailed anatomy, physiology, pathology, and skin science for advanced aesthetic practice. Learners will study the integumentary, circulatory, and nervous systems, alongside advanced skin classifications including the Fitzpatrick, Glogau, Lancer, Rubin and Monk Skin Tone scales. The qualification also explores allergic reactions, wound healing, vascular anatomy, contraindications, skin conditions, and the physiological responses associated with advanced aesthetic procedures.

Practical treatment units allow learners to develop advanced competence in a range of aesthetic procedures depending on the optional pathways selected. These include advanced microneedling, chemical peels and skin booster injections or non-surgical fat reduction. Learners will develop the skills required to carry out advanced consultations, treatment planning, skin analysis, treatment application, complication awareness, client monitoring, aftercare, and reflective practice to support safe and effective treatment outcomes.

Throughout the qualification, learners are encouraged to develop advanced professional behaviours, critical thinking, communication skills, and reflective practice to support ongoing progression within the aesthetics industry. On completion, learners will be equipped with the advanced knowledge and practical competence required to work confidently within advanced aesthetic practice and progress onto higher-level specialist training.

The course is a blend of home study theory and practical training, with all hands-on practical sessions taking place at our Hale Barns Academy in Cheshire.

To achieve this qualification a learner must successfully complete six units

Mandatory Units 

- Infection Control and Prevention for Cosmetic, Aesthetic and Needle Related Treatments

- Professional Practice for Aesthetic Practitioners

- Anatomy and Physiology for Advanced Aesthetic Practice

- Principles and Practice of Microneedling Treatments 

- Principles and Practice of Chemical Peel Treatments

- Principles and Practice of Subcutaneous Skin Booster Injections or Principles and Practice of Non-Surgical Fat Reduction

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The aims of this qualification are: 

  • To develop an understanding of advanced aesthetic practice, professional standards and relevant anatomy, physiology and pathology. 

  • To demonstrate competence at carrying out advanced aesthetic treatments. 

  • To provide a progression route within the beauty industry, for those interested in providing advanced aesthetic treatments

 

PROGRESSION PATHWAYS

ProQual Level 6 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice will enable learners to progress to:

  • ProQual Level 7 Diploma in Aesthetic Practice

  • Employment in an associated profession.
